Hello, and welcome to TinyTalk Chorley and Surrounding Areas.
My name is Rachel, I am Mummy to two gorgeous boys and also dog Mum to our noisy sausage dog Chip! Before becoming a TinyTalk teacher, I have worked with children in various roles which have included in a nursery setting, working for the NSPCC, being a family support worker and also supporting children and families in children's centers. When the opportunity came up to become a TinyTalk teacher I jumped at the chance as being a small part of a child's journey in learning to sign was too good to miss.

I use lots of the signs and gestures with my own children and its so rewarding to see them communicate this way.
TinyTalk classes aim to support you in communicating with your children, even before they are able to talk. How amazing is that?!? We use BSL Signs (British Sign Language) alongside our lessons which have different weekly themes, include lots of singing, music and instruments, specially planned sensory activities to support development, and social time for both the children and grownups. The sessions are not repeated within a year which keeps this interesting for the children. We use 150 signs within our classes and many children are able to use most, if not all of these when they have finished their sessions and are ready to move on to the toddler sessions.
The social time of the sessions are very important for both the children and the grownups. The children have the opportunity to freely play with lots of toys and to relax after lots of learning and the grownups get the chance to socialise with likeminded people and have a brew made for them (and a cheeky biscuit or cake). As a mum of two children, I am well aware of how hard parent life is and having the opportunity to chat with others who are going through the same as you is so important!

I love baby signing because:It’s a really fun way of communicating with your children. It opens up a whole new way of communicating and understanding which is just amazing!
