Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of
Emily Hageman
Hello, I'm Emily and I run TinyTalk West Manchester.
What is TinyTalk?
TinyTalk teaches BSL signs using well-known and loved nursery rhymes and a range of different sensory activities. Classes are suitable from birth to 2 years and consist of a fun and relaxed 30-minute class followed by 30 minutes of social time. Each week there is a different theme and different signs to learn.
We have sensory activities such as scarves and bubbles, and all designed to encourage your baby’s development and help promote early communication.
After the 30-minute class, we have the very important social time! This is a relaxed, no pressure, 30 minutes of playtime, where your baby can play with toys provided by me, and you get the chance to chat to other grown-ups and have a drink and biscuit (or two! )
The social time is a great way to meet other like-minded grown-ups with babies, and even make friends! It was always my favourite part of TinyTalk classes!
My TinyTalk experience:
I'm a mum to two energetic ex-TinyTalkers, Freyja and Magnus, and I attended classes for a total of 6 years before both of them were in school.
I fell in love with TinyTalk and learning BSL signs when I started classes in 2019 with my daughter. She loved classes (especially the social time) and it was wonderful watching her develop her signs and turn into a super little talker. When my son came along 4 years later, we started using signs with him from the very first day he was born and that meant he was able to tell us from as young as 8 weeks old when he wanted milk!
What I loved most was that I could communicate with my children before they could talk back, and as they got older it meant I could remind them to listen to their swimming teacher from across the pool!

Favourite Sign:"I love you" because it's amazing seeing your child sign this to you!
Favourite Film:The Lord of the Rings!
Pet Hate:When people park in the parent and child spaces without children!
Secret Passion:Birds- sea birds, birds of prey, garden birds, there is just something about birds I love!
I love baby signing because:It helped me communicate with my children. My son suffered from hearing loss as a baby and toddler and delayed speech as a result, so being able to communicate with him through sign was invaluable!

Directions:Parking: Free accessible parking spaces are available on the main road outside the studios.
Building access: At present, the venue is not fully wheelchair accessible, as there is a step at the entrance. However, the main spaces are pram friendly, with a pram park and shelter outside the main studio.

Directions:Parking is free in the car park next to the mill, or on the streets surrounding the mill. There is also an overflow car park across the road if both the mill car park and on street parking is full.
Classes are held on the first floor of the mill. Access is via stairs, unfortunately there is no lift.
