Hello! My name is Donna and I'll be your friendly neighbourhood TinyTalk teacher for Derby City and South! I teach classes in Alvaston and Littleover.
Previously, I have been an SEN teaching assistant working in a local primary school, but now I am interested in what happens before school, in early years and pre school and in helping you to become your child's first educator using Tiny Talk, as it worked so well for us! I took
Previously, I have been an SEN teaching assistant working in a local primary school, but now I am interested in what happens before school, in early years and pre school and in helping you to become your child's first educator using Tiny Talk, as it worked so well for us! I took
my own children to TinyTalk and we all loved it so much. It helped us to better understand what they needed, cutting down on tantrums and frustration, and they all spoke early and became real chatterboxes, I think, as a direct result of the early communication. I loved it so much that I went on to do my entry level and level 1 British Sign Language. Now they are bigger we still sign, using it to talk across a crowded room or to discreetly check in.
In class we'll sing and sign some familiar songs, have some great sensory activities and read some lovely stories too. We'll play some instruments and do a little dance, and then while the children play with the toys, you can have the chance to have an actually hot and not forgotten cup of tea or coffee and socialise too - these classes are not just for the babies, you matter too!

Meet Donna...
Children:My own amazing children are Mabel who is 14, and twins Carson and Hattie who are 11.
Location:We live in Chaddesden, Derby.
Favourite Sign:I like the sign for jelly as it is so wobbly and describes what it is perfectly!
Qualifications:BA in Literature/Experience of Writing, Level 3 Teaching assistant, Level 1 BSL
Favourite Film:I like time travel films like Back to the Future and The Time Traveller's Wife
Pet Hate:Litter! If you drop rubbish where you live, where you live will be rubbish, right?
Secret Passion:Ukulele! I play in the style of someone who has never seen a ukulele but I love it!
I most admire:Those who are able to just keep going in the face of adversity or hardship - what strength!
I love baby signing because:It actually really works! I thought it would be just a nice group that we would go to, but when she signed back? Oh my, I couldn't believe that I was really 'talking' to my baby! I was overjoyed!
