So in 2012 when my daughter was born I had no hesitation in attending my local Tiny Talk class. We joined when she was 3 months old and by 6 months she was able to sign milk and amazing everyone by signing nappy whenever she needed to use the potty. She was dry day and night by 16 months, sometimes waking in the night to let me know by signing she needed a wee! Then she would go straight back to sleep.
My youngest is now just turning 6 years and of course I have signed with her too. At the age of 2, she could sign well over 200 signs and could have a conversation about pretty much anything!
Signing has created such a lovely bond between my daughters as my eldest was keen to teach my little one everything she knows. Even at the age of nine she is still interested in learning new signs. I believe signing has helped them both to speak, they started talking from a young age and they never stop!!!
Signing not only eases frustration but also gives us an insight into our baby’s minds. My nephew would often sign cake at breakfast time, so although he didn’t get his cake. His mummy knew why he was sad and could distract or comfort him appropriately.
When the opportunity arose for me to become a Tiny Talk Teacher I jumped at the chance. It’s not often you can bring your daughter to work and know they will be benefiting from it educationally as well as making lots of new friends and having fun.
I hold classes in Ilkeston and Long Eaton so why not come along and join the fun with me. They are all held in person in lovely bright rooms with parking.
