Hello and welcome to TinyTalk Ringwood, Wimborne & Ferndown! I’m Laura, your local teacher, and I’m also a mummy to my very own TinyTalkers, Isla & Holly.
My family’s baby signing journey began when my eldest daughter was about 8 months old. We went along to our local TinyTalk class and to be honest, I was a little sceptical and mainly went along for the social time and a hot cup of tea! However, that soon changed when I saw how engaged my daughter was with the class, especially with all the new fun songs we learnt (the Little Green Frog song still makes her laugh now! ).

We went along to our local TinyTalk class and to be honest, I was a little sceptical and mainly went along for the social time and a hot cup of tea! However, that soon changed when I saw how engaged my daughter was with the class, especially with all the new fun songs we learnt (the Little Green Frog song still makes her laugh now! ).
She began signing ‘milk’ very soon afterwards and this was followed by lots more signs. Giving her a way to communicate before she could talk was great for us as a family as it really helped to remove some of the guesswork associated with being first-time parents and eased her frustrations. She has now become known as our very own Little Miss Chatterbox!
My second daughter was born during the first lockdown in April 2020 and, like many parents, I found this quite a challenging time for social interaction! However, TinyTalk were able to offer online classes during this time and these were such a welcome distraction from home-schooling(! ) and really helped all of us to bond through focused singing, signing and playing. My youngest is now a very confident signer and will happily demonstrate the sign for ‘more’ at every chance she gets!
For me, TinyTalk really stands out from other baby classes as it gives you and your baby the chance to learn a lifetime skill (and total parent hack! ) together. The classes are well structured with half an hour dedicated to signing, singing and sensory activities based on a theme each week, followed by half an hour of social time where you can chat to other adults whilst your little one plays and develops their social skills. You can even enjoy a hot drink and a biscuit (or two)!
