Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of
Gabriela Saxon

"" TINY TALK BRISTOL is now both in-person and online for Summer term 2021!

A few years ago, a lifelong friend of mine became a Tiny Talk teacher, and sang its praises constantly. So much so, that when I discovered I was pregnant, I was pretty sure I was going to take my daughter to classes from day one. 4 months after The Beastie was born, we took her to her first taster session. She could barely hold her
own head up, but she was mesmerised by the songs and the enthusiasm of the teacher.

She knew immediately that these signs were for her, and that this was HER language.

My husband and I signed with her every time we spoke, and could see her watching us closely. I joked that she was like an international spy: knowing everything, but saying nothing. She also obsessively watched the signing DVD every day for 6 months straight (Pro-Tip: a great way of nabbing 40 minutes in the morning to make breakfast, or just have some me-time). Then, suddenly, at 8 months old, she signed milk and waved! Just after she turned 1, the signs came thick and fast and now at nearly 2 years old she knows ALL the signs on the DVD and signs them every day. I am positive that signing has been the major factor in completely eliminating any frustration for her when it comes to communicating with the people around her. The result is that she is a very happy baby, with A LOT to say.

Since the Coronavirus Pandemic hit, we've gone online! ‘TinyTalk TV’ is streamed live every week. The parents and carers are able to join in the fun and games throughout each session, with song requests, answers to questions and quizzes, updates on their signing progress and plenty of chatting between everyone. The classes are upbeat and musical with plenty of multi-sensory activities to bring the teaching and learning alive. Flashing balls, voile scarves and mirrors are all part of the package! The camera is always on the teacher, safeguarding the privacy of young families. No one misses any of the learning as they can see clearly what the teacher is doing - and the fun and games that ‘TinyTalk Ted’ also gets up to!

It’s a winning combination that TinyTalk TV offers, marrying education and entertainment with a close and supportive community, providing a much-needed lifeline. No one knows how much longer we will all be in lockdown, unable to spend time, physically, with our loved ones. Until then, TinyTalk is doing all it can for its class families – being there for them and their little ones.
