TinyTalk Mid Kent

my signing journey when my daughter was about 5 weeks old. It was the start of the first lockdown and the world was a very strange place with a new baby and lockdown thrown in the mix. We didn’t get a chance to start any classes in person before lockdown hit, so I was so excited to see that Tiny Talk classes were going online and we signed up straight away.

The classes were an absolute saviour for us. Not only did it keep my baby brain engaged learning a new skill, but the social time at the end of each class meant I could talk to other Mums. I really looked forwards to TinyTalk days. It gave a structure to our weeks, which was so important in those early days of lockdown, and as a new mum! As soon as In Person classes started again, I was so excited to start going to a baby group, and the class quickly became so much more to us. It was a chance to chat with other like-minded mums who were all going through something similar, and share a much appreciated hot drink at the end of each class! It also gave my daughter some much needed socialistion in a laid back, unpressured environment.

Ada's signing came on so quickly and it soon became clear that this was going to be the most valuable class I could do with her, and a skill that was going to stick with us both.

When she started nursery, and we told them about our signing with her, they were understanding, if a little sceptical. However, my little star soon showed them what it was all about, making efforts to say the word while signing too. They were so impressed with how well she could communicate that they started teaching themselves and using it with all the children. I have to say that was a proud moment.

After almost two years of being a “Student” of TinyTalk Mid Kent, the opportunity came about to take over the classes and run them for myself. It was certainly an opportunity that I wasn’t going to turn down.Ilove sharing such an important skill with other families. I reallly do feel like we are one big family.

Unlike many other classes, we charge per family, and not per child/adult. Feel free to come along with older/younger siblings and just pay a set fee per half term. With social time scheduled in at the end of each class it’s a perfect time to let your child play and grab yourself a hot drink and a biscuit!

Classes currently run Tuesday (Gillingham), Wednesday (Walderslade), Thursday (Maidstone) and Friday (Maidstone). Why not book on to a class to see what we do!
