Hello and welcome to TinyTalk Baby Signing classes in Cardiff. My name's Vicki, I'm 34 and Mum to 3 year old Amy and brand new daughter, Lucy.

I'm well into my 2nd year teaching TinyTalk classes, having previously been an attendee with my eldest daughter. Amy took to signing better than I ever hoped. Within 6 sessions she was making her first gestures and at her peak had a repertoire of approximately 95 signs. Working out what she wanted or needed was no longer a process of elimination “hungry”,
“thirsty”, “soggy nappy” she could let us know! She would put signs together like ‘More water please’ and ‘Where’s the book?’ and at the same time learned to say the words too.

Using simple gestures and signs, babies as young as 6 months can tell you that they want milk or that they have seen a bird! As well as reducing frustration this can offer you a wonderful and fascinating insight into baby's world.
