Hi my name is Vicky and I run baby signing classes in Didsbury (Manchester), Cheadle (Stockport) and Chorlton (Manchester). When I first started my maternity leave I also started a college course to keep my brain working for me, so I wasn’t just thinking about nappies and feeding all the time. I decided to do my British Sign Language Stage 1 as this has always interested me.

After a few months of motherhood I decided to look for something for myself and Maddison to do together. I rang the CYPS (Children and Young Peoples Services) and they sent me details of the classes in my area. Tiny Talk Altrincham was one of them, and as I was doing my British Sign Language at collage, I decided to take my little one to the class.

We both loved it! Not just the singing but the signing and the social time. Maddison was about 9 months old when she did her first sign and by 11 months could sign about 60 signs. What a God-send this was! I can’t even remember her having any tantrums as she always told us exactly what she wanted and would often tell us what was going on around her.

At fist my husband was concerned that it would stop her wanting to talk but he was soon proved wrong! By the time she was 2 her communication skills were the equivalent of that of a 3 year old, and I maintain that it was down to the fact that she was communicating with us from 9 months old.

I was so impressed that I wanted to share my experience with everyone I met. I thought that I just have to tell and teach as many people about this wonderful experience.

So here I am, loving teaching and sharing my experiences with everyone that comes to my classes. I want you and your little one to get as much from them as I did. I hope to see you soon.
