Hi and welcome to TinyTalk Reading (West). I am Tracy, your local TinyTalk teacher and mum of 4! My TinyTalkers are Kieran & Danny. I offer Baby Signing and Toddler Classes in Caversham, Calcot & Tilehurst, and from September, Beenham. I also have BSL Level 2 and am CRB checked.

I started signing with Kieran when he was 6 months old (because that’s when I heard of it). It was amazing! By the time he was 9 months he could tell me if he wanted food or milk. At 10 months he could tell me whether he wanted yoghurt, raisins, banana, crisps or biscuit. I really feel that signing helped us to avoid the frustration many babies feel when they try to communicate but we adults are unable to understand them. I didn’t sign with Danny until he was 4 months, purely because I was too tired before then lol.

One of the most amazing experiences you obtain from your baby signing is that your baby wants to have a conversation with you! I can remember Kieran & Danny telling me that they had seen a bird, cat or had heard an aeroplane in sign. I had never realised that children could communicate at such an early age. The idea that signing delays speech is a total myth. Kieran saw a speech & language therapist at 4 years & 3 months and his speech was on par with an 8 year old.

I found the experience of signing with your baby so rewarding that I decided to become a teacher with TinyTalk in 2005 and have never looked back.

TinyTalk classes are 1 hour long with 1/2 hour of singing popular nursery rhymes and action songs with appropriate signs based on the weekly theme such as mealtimes or animals and 1/2 an hour of social time, tea & biscuits for you & toys for your babies.

We now also run Toddler classes concentrating on Speech, Language, Development and Understanding & tosee how the toddlers develop is absolutely wonderful, you do not need to have signed previously with your child to join these classes.
