Hi there and welcome to TinyTalk Reading (West). I am Tracy, your local TinyTalk teacher and mum of 4! My TinyTalkers are Kieran, now 5 & Danny, 3. I offer Baby Signing Classes in Caversham, Calcot & Tilehurst. I also have BSL Level 2.

I started signing with Kieran when he was 6 months old. It was amazing! By the time he was 9 months he could tell me if he wanted food or milk. At 10 months he could tell me whether he wanted yoghurt, raisins, banana, crisps or biscuit. I really feel that signing helped us to avoid the frustration many babies feel when they try to communicate but we adults are unable to understand them.

One of the most amazing experiences you obtain from your baby signing is that your baby wants to start a conversation with you! I can remember Kieran, & Danny, telling me that they had seen a bird, a cat or had heard an aeroplane in sign. What an insight into their world! I had never realised that my children could communicate with me at such an early age. The idea that Kieran wouldn't be able to talk as well was a total myth, I had a speech and language test done on him when he was 4 years and 3 months his speech was on par with an 8 year old (he was on the 99+ percentile). He is also taken out of his foundation class to read with the 7 year old children.

Once I had taught Kieran I decided that it was such a wonderful experience that i decided to become a teacher. I looked into other baby signing companies but decided that TinyTalk was definitely the way forward. The classes are relaxed, social and great fun.

TinyTalk classes are 1 hour long with 1/2 hour of singing popular nursery rhymes and action songs with appropriate signs based on the weekly theme such as mealtimes or animals and 1/2 an hour of social time, Tea & biscuits for you & toys for your babies.
