| Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of Pippa Young |
Hello! I'm Pippa and I've just launched new Tiny Talk classes in Cirencester and Cheltenham in Spring 2012. Please see details at the bottom of the page. I have just started adding some pictures of babies signing to my 'scrapbook' so take a look! I am very excited to be teaching my own TinyTalk baby sign language classes. When my son, William, was around 6 months old, I started taking him to TinyTalk. To begin with I
went along for the social side of it and for the music - we really enjoyed the excellent mix of tradtional and action songs, the tea and biscuits and making new friends. However, after five or six weeks of classes and trying to use a few of the signs at home, William started signing 'duck' and 'milk' and I was completely sold on baby signing! It was just so brilliant that he could communicate with me! He is now five and is an unstoppable chatterbox. After Emma was born, we all taught her signs at home. It was great when she started using the sign for ‘where’ whenever she wanted to find her teddy bear. This has been very useful for all of us, as we can instantly get her the one thing that really calms her down. Unfortunately there were no longer Tiny Talk classes in our area. On the bright side, it meant that there was an opportunity for me to become the teacher! Having loved our classes and having previously been a Primary School Teacher, fascinated by child development, it was too good a chance to miss. Tiny Talk classes are an hour long. The classes are relaxed and lots of fun. Each week you will learn a handful of new baby signs - all from British Sign Language (BSL) and all for everyday words, things that are most important in a baby’s life. We use the signs as we sing lots of well known nursery rhymes and action songs and also incorporate them into stories. The second half hour is playtime for the babies with lots of toys and time for parents to have a drink, biscuit and chat. The communication skills we teach, through music, actions and signing during Tiny Talk classes really can aid the development of babies' brains at a critical time in their early development. Learning to sign with your baby can be incredibly rewarding. Tiny Talk classes will give you all the tools you need and I will support you to really get the most out of it. Why don't you give it a try?

Mouse - Emma does it all the time when we look at 'That's Not My...' books and now says it too.
Children:
William (5), Emma (22 months)
Location:
Cirencester, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Favourite Film:
The Princess Bride. I fell in love with this film when I was 16 - Romantic, funny and plain silly.
Pet Hate:
Tailgating
Secret Passion:

I love baby signing because:
it is so amazing and heart-warming to see babies being able to express themselves before their speech has developed. I think it really enhances the early bond between parents and their children. |
