Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of Jillian Saunders

Hello and welcome to TinyTalk NE Warrington and S Wigan. I am Jill, your local TinyTalk teacher in Culcheth and Billinge, Mum to Jamie, and a part time Primary School Teacher.
When Jamie was about 5 months old and I felt I could get us both up, dressed, fed and out of the house before lunch time I decided to look at what classes were out there for us to go to and among others I came across TinyTalk.
Having a background in teaching in Nursery (pre-school) and Reception classes we had used a few signs with some of the children for a variety of reasons, and just before I had gone on maternity leave I had attended a 10 week introductory course to BSL, so I was interested to find out how I could use signing to communicate with my child!
I went along to the classes and was amazed to hear how some of the success stories of the other Mums and babies. It took Jamie a little while before he started to sign but he signed his first meaningful sign ‘phone’ when he saw me pick it up. Soon after that he started to use other signs and so I knew when he wanted his teddy, a drink, some milk, food and of course Daddy!
I love teaching the classes and seeing the babies develop and every time I hear someone has done a first sign I feel so proud!
Classes are 1 hour long, the first half of the class is packed with signing and singing and lots of fun! Followed by social time ~ time for the babies to play (toys are provided) and time for the grown ups to chat (refreshments provided).The classes are held in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The ‘mums’ love the hot drink that's made for them, as well as the chocolate biscuits that are available! Social time is a great way to meet others and ask any questions you have on baby signing, sleepless nights, weaning.......!!!

I love baby signing because:
it amazes me how babies can communicate before they can talk and stops of a lot of frustration for the babies and parents!
