Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of Heidi Newey

Click to view our class times"" Hi I'm Heidi, Mum to Hannah (5 Years) and Aiden (10 months). I have been baby signing for 5 years and teaching for 3 years.
I first started baby signing with Hannah when she was only a few weeks old and was amazed when at 8 months she signed 'BIRD' to me after seeing one in the garden, soon after this came 'BEAR' and then the signs came flooding in. Every day she would sign something new to me and at 11 months Hannah was having 'conversations' with me using sign language.
This definitely reduced her frustration and tantrums as she could tell me what she had seen and what she was thinking or what she needed. A few members of my family thought signing with Hannah would slow down her speech but it had the opposite affect and Hannah was one of the first in her group of friends to talk, amazing the Health Visitor at her 2 year check up with her wide vocabulary. The signing helped her understand words and encouraged her to communicate.
Now it's Aidens' turn. At 5 months old he was already understanding the signs for 'MILK' 'DRINK' 'DADDY' 'FOOD' and 'BATH', and now he has control of his hands he signs 'DRINK' 'FOOD' 'BIRD' 'MILK' and 'DOG'.
I taught Hannah at home using the ‘Tiny Talk Signing Pack’ as I had searched for Tiny Talk baby signing classes near to where I lived but the class was too far away. I wanted Hannah to socialise with other signing babies and make the teaching process more fun for the both of us. This inspired me to look into becoming a signing teacher and I started classes in my local area including classes at Center Parcs Holiday Village and Sure Start Children’s’ Centre’s.
I think everyone should at least give baby signing a try. Why sit there and guess what your baby wants through his/her tantrums and crying when you can teach them a way to communicate with you before they can talk?
Baby signing needs to be seen to be believed. So come along to my classes and learn this incredible skill with your baby. Classes are for 1 hour, half an hour singing and signing and half an hour play, chat and support time. There is also the essential tea/coffee and biscuit at my classes too.

We look forward to signing with you and your baby soon.
