  Hi! My name is Heather Othick. I have the TinyTalk franchise for Scarborough, Malton & Driffield which I bought in 2006. I became interested in baby signing when Phoebe was about 7 months old. I started signing with her at home and was SO amazed when she signed 'duck' just 8 weeks later. I joked to one of my bosses that I wasn't going back to work (in a bank) but going to do this instead - then I found myself
thinking 'why not?' So I did!
Unfortunately my older daughter became ill shortly afterwards and in 2008 came to require full time care, so I pressed pause on the classes to look after her.
Now though, I'm back! After 2 years away. I restarted classes in January 2011 and this time around it's Phoebe who practices the nursery rhymes with me, who sits and signs with me at home. She's at school now, but she loves it just as much as she always did.
This bond that TinyTalk has developed between us is something that I think all parents/carers should get the chance to enjoy - and I love being the one to bring it to people in this area...

Directions: |
From Scarborough Railway Station (facing towards the town centre), turn left at the traffic lights onto Northway, then right at the next ones onto Victoria Road. Straight down Victoria Road through the pedestrian crossing & traffic lights (The West Riding pub is on the left here) to the roundabout and straight across. Take the next right onto Queen Street (immediately after the car park). The Methodist Hall is on your left towards the bottom of the road, just before Boyes store. If you're walking you can use the front gate.
If you're driving, take the first left AFTER the Methodist Hall, turn left again at the bottom of the road. Just after Boyes carpark is a lane that goes uphill, drive through the barrier that will be open for our use and park - only in a designated space though please.
Use the door at the front of the building, to the left of the main doors.
Come down the stairs and look for the TT logo. |

Fund raising - actually, that's not so secret! I also run a charity called Ellie's Fund.
I most admire:
my daughter Ellie. She passed away aged 14 but not before she raised £25k for charity.
I love baby signing because:
it opened up my world with Phoebe, & brought the older children closer together too. AND, it saved us all SO much frustration!! |
