Hi and welcome to TinyTalk in the Derwentside and Whickham area. I'm Beverley, and I've been teaching TinyTalk classes since 2008, after realising the benefits of signing with my own two daughters. My eldest daughter, Holly, and I began TinyTalk classes when she was 10 months old and I loved the classes - they were fun, relaxed, musical and were the highlight of our week.
Holly began signing within 3 weeks, and when she signed for 'pain' I realised how beneficial signing would be for us. My youngest daughter, Fern, used signs from the age of 7 months, after I began signing with her from newborn - her first sign was 'more'! Both of my daughters were incredible signers and could sign in three and four word sentences - though it often was 'more biscuits please mammy!' My enjoyment of the classes and recognising the benefits it brought to our family is what prompted me to become a teacher and I have loved every minute of delivering classes in the area. Come along and try a class for yourself - it's a great opportunity to make new friends too, as along with the structured class time where we introduce the signs and sing nursery rhymes (with lots of actions and movement - we love to go on a Bear hunt and do the Hokey Cokey!), we have a social time too, where you can have a drink and a biscuit while you have a chat with new friends - giving your little one a valuable time to interact with other little ones.

Brand new for September are our fantastic new TinyTalk Toddlers classes - these classes aim to encourage and support children's speech and language understanding and expression. The toddler classes have a similar format but are more focused on speech and other skills such as conversational turn taking and social skills. The signs and songs from TinyTalk baby signing are still a very important part of the class as all babies develop at different rates but they also explore different themes each week and have more physical activities such as parachute songs and language activities.The class is most suitable for children starting to talk and are steady on their feet 18 months – 3 years approximately.
