I started baby signing with my daughter when she was 8 months old as I wanted to be able to understand her and meet her needs. It took about 6 weeks before she made her first sign, ‘light’ and more quickly followed. By the time she was 15 months, she was speaking, speaking & signing and just signing over 70 words. This video of my daughter signing "flower" was taken when my daughter was just 14 months old.


We didn’t seem to encounter any issues with frustration which can often occur in the early toddler months, thanks to establishing good communication between all the family. The in-laws took our lead to sign with her and they’ve really noticed an increased level of understanding of the world around her. Just take a look at this video of Maisie signing "Book". You'll see that having asked me for a book and getting no response, she signed the word too to get my attention!


The TinyTalk classes are really fun and varied. In the first half we learn how to sign using familiar and popular songs. In the second half we have our social time when you can sit back and enjoy a hot (or cold!) drink and biscuit or two, and chat to other parents and carers.

I also run training courses for nurseries, childcarers, parents who can't make classes. The next course is being planned for early summer. Please email me for further details.
